A2 Housing Group and Slough Borough Council welcomed guests to the official opening of A2's affordable housing scheme at Foundry Court in Slough on Wednesday 16 April.

Guests were taken on a tour of some of the new homes before the Mayor of Slough, Councillor Rashad Butt, officially opened the scheme by cutting a ribbon.

The Mayor also personally welcomed some of the residents to their new homes.

Resident Ms Lorna Allen and her daughter Melissa moved into their new two bedroom home in Foundry Court last October. They attended yesterday's opening, and she said, "My daughter and I are so happy in our new home here. It's quiet, decorated nicely, and very spacious, with plenty of room for Melissa to play. It really is lovely."

The 75 new affordable homes in Slough's town centre have been built by Linden Homes at a cost of £9million, with £2.8million contributed by the Housing Corporation.

The homes range from one, two and three bedroom apartments, and of these properties, 52 are available for affordable rent. The remaining 25 apartments are for shared ownership, which have helped local people to step onto the property ladder and own their own home.

The apartments form part of a larger development, providing affordable urban accommodation in the heart of Slough, near the town's many amenities and transport links. They are set across five levels, and each apartment is well designed and makes maximum use of available living space.

John Knevett, Chief Executive of A2 says, "We are delighted to work with Slough Borough Council providing more affordable homes in the town. These properties will help relieve the housing shortage for people wanting to live in the town, and it's wonderful to hear that the residents of this new scheme are thrilled with their new homes."
