Resident groups

We have a large selection of residents groups and have listed the different groups below. For more information, please visit our residents' website.

Getting involved at a local level:

We will support residents who want to set up a local neighbourhood group, tenants' association or social committee. Funding and training is also available. Our resident involvement team can give you more information and advice on how to set up a group.

Estate walkabouts
We advertise estate walkabouts in advance so that you can join our officers in inspecting the estate and give suggestions on how we can improve.

Estate meetings
If you want to get involved in a less formal way, we can arrange local meetings throughout the year to discuss specific concerns.

Improving the local environment through the amenity fund or donations fund
We have set aside a small fund (the amenity fund) especially for small-scale improvements to our estates which would not normally be paid for out of other budgets. Projects are approved by residents on our amenity fund committee.

You can bid for money by filling in an amenity fund application form.

Surrey Wide Involvement Group (SWIG)
We are a member of SWIG. This is a county-wide group where residents from across Surrey, living in council or housing association homes, meet to discuss common issues and share information and training.

Regeneration projects
If your home is part of a large scale regeneration or neighbourhood renewal scheme then we will ensure there will be more opportunities to get involved. We are in the process of working closely with residents on redeveloping part of Stanwell as part of a major regeneration project called Stanwell New Start.

Helping us to improve our services

There are a number of ways our residents can help us improve services including:

Best value residents consultative group
At A2 we are committed to reviewing our services. As part of this process, this group takes an active part in our service reviews, and looks at ways of improving our services in the most cost-effective way.

Monitoring panels for estate cleaning contracts and grounds maintenance contracts
Linked to our best-value residents' consultative group, these panels meet regularly with our contractors to monitor performance and get feedback from across our estates on these services.

Phone and email panel
If you register on this panel, we will contact you by phone or email to ask for your views on service contracts such as estate cleaning and grounds maintenance. We will also contact you to carry out surveys on specific topics. This panel will also deal with our text messaging service.

Focus groups
We may set up small focus groups to get your views on a specific topic or a change to policies or procedures. This is often a good way of getting involved without too much time commitment as these meetings are often one-off.

Publications panel
This panel looks at the publications we send to our residents. It is involved in the content and design of our residents' newsletters and other publications. Even if you are not able to come to a meeting, you can still be involved in this group.

Residents website panel
This panel is responsible for reviewing and updating our residents' website.

Maintenance consultation group
This panel is made up of residents, our officers and representatives from our three main maintenance contractors. This panel aims to make sure we continue to improve our maintenance services.

Amenity fund committee
The Amenity fund is administered through this committee, consisting of 12 residents and 2 A2 officers. The Committee considers applications for small scale estate improvements made by residents and decides on how the annual budget is spent.

Antisocial behaviour monitoring panel
This panel helps us to tackle antisocial behaviour. It also monitors our performance in this area.

Mystery Shopping Panel
This panel helps us to evaluate our level of customer service. This may involve phoning a particular department to see how they deal with your call, or coming into our offices to evaluate our reception service.

Development panel
Working with our development team, this group gives you the opportunity to look at the design of new schemes and consider how future developments could be improved to meet the needs of our residents.

Specialist strategic groups
We recognise that our residents are very varied, so we want to hear from residents from different backgrounds and types of tenancies. We have set up some specific groups to work with you to make sure we can take account of your views. These include:

A2 Residents Executive Group
This group is made up of elected residents and aims to:

  • represent all our residents and protect the interests of existing and future residents;
  • provide two-way dialogue between our Boards of Management and residents through elected resident board members; and
  • have an overview of resident involvement and monitor the effectiveness of our resident involvement strategy, statement and action plan are.

We review the membership of this group each year to make sure that the group represents our residents.

Area specific forums
These are open forums for tenants set up in certain areas where we have homes. They meet every three months to discuss strategic issues and give feedback to our Board of Management.

Leasehold Continuous Improvement Group
This group was set up to represent the ideas and opinions of our leaseholders and shared owners. The group meets regularly with officers from our home ownership team to improve services in this area.

Older Person Panels
We have two area-based panels to reflect the views of our older residents, particularly residents living in our sheltered-housing schemes or properties which are suitable for elderly people.

BME Residents Panel
Our black and minority ethnic (BME) Residents' Panel reflects the cultural backgrounds of our residents. This panel discusses issues around how we deliver services and how to encourage and involve residents from black and ethnic-minority communities.

Key worker forum
Our key worker forum gives teacher, nurses and other key workers living in our accommodation the chance to share their views on our service.
