New affordable homes officially opened in Laverstock
Released on 27 Nov 2007
On Monday 26 November A2 Housing Group, along with guests Salisbury Council and the local community, celebrated the completion of phase one of Pilgrims Way, Laverstock, a brand new community of 19 new homes for affordable rent.
This project was built by Bloor Homes and cost approximately £3.3million with 41 of the 125 homes provided by A2 for local people. Alongside this is the provision of public open spaces, a brand new kitchen at the community centre and improvements on the Laverstock Road.
This first phase offers 5 two and three bedroom houses and 14 one and two bedroom apartments, all at Housing Corporation target rents. Following a tour of some of the homes, the opening was marked with a ribbon cutting ceremony by A2's Chairman, Peter Taylor and Salisbury District Council's Vice-Chairman Ian McLennan.
Local resident Ms Coombes, is thrilled with her new home: "I feel very honoured and lucky to have been given one of these homes. I always hoped and wished that I could one day bring my children up in Laverstock and cannot think of a better place in Salisbury that I would rather be."
Phase two of the project will consist of 21 houses with 10 of these being available for shared ownership, helping local people take that first step onto the property ladder. These are all due to be completed by summer 2008.
